Lives not lived
Growing up in rural West Sussex I seriously considered becoming a charcoal burner and living among the clamps1. At the time they were offering traditional craft preservation grants for it, and I had a love of the woods and woodsmoke. I rarely wonder where other paths taken would have gone, but that one, I do.

Notes:
1 This isn't entirely mad; I had a friend who was a shepherd and lived in an old shepherd's wagon up on The Downs. Brendon Chase was, and still is, one of my favourite books, and I've done crazier things based on reading.
