The Wall of Books
I find more and more I am retreating from the world into books. Whereas before I read to understand and, yes, if I'm honest, control, I find I increasingly look there for sanctuary from humanity1.
Is this the threshold between the young and the old; that the old retreat from the world while the young advance towards it?

Notes:
1 As it seems unlikely authors are the best people in the world (though I'm sure many are very fine, perhaps even the majority), and books are widely regarded has have deep psychological effects and penetration, I can only assume it is the arms-distance of them that makes them easier to deal with.
